Patronato Ruta de la Amistad A.C

Patronato Ruta de la Amistad A.C
Ciudad de México, Mexico

It was founded in 1994 by Luis Javier de la Torre González and Javier Ramírez Campuzano in their altruistic search for restoring, conserving, and spreading knowledge about this legacy from the Cultural Olympics by inviting Embassies, and private and public institutions to participate through a trust created by the Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes (the National Fund for Culture and Arts) from donations and products/services in kind.

From the work done by the Board, today there are 20 restored and conserved works of art with two remaining to be rescued. From its re-adaptation, The Route of Friendship has come up with various alternative proposals: the Intervention Program, which is made up of multidisciplinary artists that give constant care to the works of art and their surroundings; Urban Ecology Action, that looks after the Jardines Nativos de Pedregal (Native Gardens of Pedregal), where the flora and fauna is being rescued and natural rainwater collectors around the sculptures are being created; and the Proyecto de Bosques Comestibles (Edible Forest Project), in the wetlands zone, where different species native to Xochimilco are sowed and harvested.

Other responsabilities of the Patronato Ruta de la Amistad A.C. include the Conservation of the heritage of the Festival Mundial de Pintura Infantil México ’68 (The 1968 World Festival of Children’s Painting) and the editions, movies and publicity for the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico.
