Ulrich Museum of Art

Wichita, KS, United States

Founded in 1974, the Ulrich Museum of Art at Wichita State University is the region’s source for modern and contemporary art, housing a diverse collection of approximately 7,300 works of art with an international scope. Named for Edwin A. Ulrich and his initial gift of over 300 paintings and works on paper, the Ulrich Museum is best known today for connecting audiences with artists and artworks that reflect our world today and represent its populations. The Museum’s renowned 88-piece Martin H. Bush Outdoor Sculpture Collection is North America’s largest public sculpture collection on a single university campus, with works by artists like Fernando Botero, Alice Aycock, Barbara Hepworth, Henry Moore, and Hank Willis Thomas.

Since its founding, the Ulrich Museum has committed itself to cultivating a space for educational engagement and enriching the regional arts community to inspire broad audiences through its dynamic public programs, events, and exhibitions, a robust schedule of programming that is always free. In 2021, the Ulrich opened the Dr. Sam and Jacque Kouri Collection Study Center, which provides a flexible space for research and collection engagement through the direct viewing of any work in the permanent collection.

After 50 years of serving not only our campus community, but communities across the public at large, the Ulrich remains committed to its mission of expanding human experience through encounters with the art of our time.
