Welcome to the York County History Center, where history is memorable, intriguing, and fun. Explore history from our Revolutionary roots to our successful industrial heritage. As a non-profit organization, we use collections, historic sites and museums to help tell the American story.

The York County History Center serves as York County Pennsylvania’s historical and cultural story teller. Our mission to inspire the exploration of the history, people and culture of our county, state and nation is currently accomplished through five museums, and a nationally renowned library & archives. Originally established in 1895 as the Historical Society of York County, the History Center now maintains an extensive material collection of approximately 90,000 objects along with equally wide-ranging archival assets that help put into context the community’s history and heritage. From the decorative arts and industrial equipment, to personal stories preserved through objects, documents, and photographs, the extraordinary abundance of historical resources affords the History Center exceptional opportunities to inspire the exploration of the past, and connect York County Pennsylvania’s local history to the national stage.
