His entry into taking photographs happened via mobile photography, a method that enabled him to find his footing before picking up his first camera.

Initially starting with architecture and landscapes, Kid later found a love for street photography during which found himself occasionally capturing portraits of people he found interesting. This led to more portrait work, and latterly fashion photography.

Kid’s love for fashion and portrait photography coincided with his move into shooting predominantly on film, a method he feels allows him to better build a connection with the people he photographs.

Kid finds inspiration from music, movies, theatre, and dance. These influences, along with the different types of photography he has progressed through has undoubtedly had an influence on how he photographs people.

Whether it is a simple portrait or stylised editorial, there is still something of the raw, urban, street-style feel that has been characterised his work since the beginning.

His images are also marked with a softness of colour, emotive and stylised captures relying on composition, medium and colour to present beautifully saturated portraits.

There is clearly a collaboration at work, resulting in natural portraits with quiet confidence that empowers the sitter and allows them the space to express themselves through the lens.
