COLORS was founded in 1991 by Oliviero Toscani and Tibor Kalman, convinced that the differences are positive and all cultures have the same value. It was born as a quarterly magazine, distributed internationally in numerous bilingual editions and was printed up to n° 90 Football (2014).

The n° 76 Teenagers obtained the 1st Prize Stories in the Art and Entertainment section of World Press Photo 2010 with Kitra Cahana's Rainbowland reportage.

The n° 79 was awarded the Silver Prize in the Editorial Design category of the 90th edition of the Art Directors Club. In 2019 COLORS returned in the form of an editorial experiment on Instagram.
