Johnny Powers and his friend Bill discuss the future of space exploration after watching a science fiction movie. Johnny’s brother Ed teaches them about three principles important to space travel- gravity, centrifugal force, and inertia. Ed then teaches Johnny about rockets and guided missiles, using the Vanguard rocket that launched the first U.S. satellite into orbit. They then watch a television program about Cape Canaveral and visits a General Electric rocket scientist at Electronics Park and the Atlas Guidance Tracker system outside of Pittsfield and get an overview of rocket engineering at Evendale, Lynn and Philadelphia.
