The Two-Word Poem 'Love/Hate' - At the Brandenburg Gate (2020) by Mia Florentine Weiss
This sculpture by German artist Mia Florentine Weiss simply says 'Love'....
....or does it? Because when it is viewed from the reverse side it seems to spell out the word 'Hate'.
It is what is known as an ambigrammatic sculpture, in that it can be read in two different ways depending on from which side it is viewed.

Mia Florentine Weiss' art is based on the balancing act between pairs of opposites. It reflects the ambivalence of opposing feelings.

The work was first designed in 1999 before being turned into the first sculpture of its kind in the world.
The work currently sits in front of the Brandenburg Gate in the heart of Berlin, the artist's home city. However, other versions have been displayed elsewhere, including the Senckenberg Natural History Museum in Frankfurt, as well as Brussels, Moscow, and Prague.
These public places of display give people the chance to interact with the sculpture and see it from all angles - in the way the artist intended.
