Paolo Ghilardi was the artist of color

Endowed with great creativity and strong interest in design and architecture. The need to explain the color by leading it beyond the limit imposed with the access to the third dimension, is also reflected in the sculptures in Plexiglas and glass. These artworks consist of several levels, which would then also compose layered composition made of several floors in Plexiglas, a kind of double container in which geometric elements conceived with paper are blocked inside.

ATMA (1988) by Paul GhilardiArchivio Paolo Ghilardi

During the 1980s he created the first monumental sculpture in glass, entitled "ATMA". The work was linked to the project for the development of a public area of the city of Stezzano, but it had been perceived as outdated compared to the modern conception of the arts of that period.

They are regular or irregular works, which give a feeling of suspended dimension where the eye is invited to forward to see the alternation of fullness and emptiness, light and dark and shadows in constant dialogue, beyond the visible of the instant, conceding once again to the human gaze the possibility of observing or looking beyond.
