Cordero comes from Ecuador, once a part of the ancient Inca empire. The Incas had great regard for Pachamama (Mother Earth). As a child, she was introduced to the practices of recycling in Incan settlements and was inspired by the way they used natural materials for diverse purposes.

Similarly, Cordero picks elements from the desert, the sea and the mountains of the UAE – be it leaves, shells or sand – and gives them a second life through her work.
She calls her art “an organic abstraction.” It enables her paintings to help people make a spontaneous connection with nature.
The abstraction in her work also reveals a spiritual dimension. It helps the artist to “find the essence of God in his creation, reminding me that we must preserve his legacy.
Nature and human beings have always been part of a single creation; and my work always aims to remember that unity.”
Ana Liz Cordero believes that it is her responsibility as an artist to think about the planet, conservation and biodiversity.
