What makes The Al Rayyan Mosque unique?

The mosque in Hatta, Dubai is known as the the world’s first mosque to receive the platinum rating for Green Buildings, it is situated in the ecologically diverse region of Hatta and is built as a symbol and example of environmental sustainability.

Al Rayyan mosque has a pragmatic, modern architectural style featuring a 25-metre high minaret, parking for vehicles including dedicated spaces for environment-friendly cars, an electric charging station and a residence for the imam and the muezzin.

The mosque is spread over 1050 sq. m. and can accommodate more than 600 worshippers.

While providing facilities of the highest standards for people of determination, the construction of the mosque itself sets an example for unflinching commitment.

Inaugurated in 2021, the mosque was completed in 12 months.

Al Rayyan Mosque was established under the guidance of His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA. 

It is by employing the best practices and the highest standards in optimizing the quality and usage of air, water and energy resources that the mosque obtained the LEED certification with 83 points.

To be the world’s first mosque certification with platinum rating from the US Green Buildings Council. LEED is the accepted global standard for the design, construction and operation of energy-efficient buildings.

The mosque conserves about 26.5% of energy and 55% of water. About 25% of water consumed is conserved with the help of various water-saving devices while the water used in ablution is treated and reused for irrigation purposes and green spaces.

In addition to solar panels, the mosque is equipped with solar heaters to reduce energy consumption.

Al Rayyan mosque is a part of the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for sustainable urban development in order to make Dubai the world’s best place to live in. 

It sets a benchmark by adopting best sustainability practices and preserving natural resources for a better environmental future.
