In May of 2019, a fan on Reddit suggested that MrBeast plant 20 million trees to celebrate reaching 20 million subscribers on YouTube. He listened.
On October 25, 2019, #TeamTrees launched with the audacious goal to crowdfund $20 million by 2020. $1, one tree.

The project starts

In 2021, Arbor Day Foundation kicked off the first #TeamTrees planting projects to deliver on the trust of more than 800,000 donors from around the world. True to its social roots, #TeamTrees keeps its supporters updated sharing news and planting stories across social media and its website.

This planting reestablishes forests to ensure clean drinking water for residents near the Willamette River, as well as improved water quality and habitat for wildlife dependent upon this area.

Ongoing replanting efforts are needed in this area due to the land being cleared for surface mining and agricultural use.

Partnering with Gone West Global, the Arbor Day Foundation is planting trees across Portugal through the ‘Free Trees for Portugal’ initiative.

Biak Island is one of the poorest areas of Indonesia where subsistence farmers and fishers make up approximately 75% of the population.
