Amalia Cletos Noa is a pioneer in the history of Puerto Rican Art, as she is recognized as one of the first female painters of Puerto Rico. Very little is known about the artist, who often referenced José Campeche’s style in her artworks, and belonged to a distinguished group of creators that painted during the second half of the 19th century.
The artist uses a classic composition that has been popular since the 12th century: the figure of God is presented as a seated figure dressed in blue surrounded by clouds while holding a scepter.

The triangle shape that connects God, Jesus and the Holy Ghost is an intentional stylistic choice made by the artist as an allusion to the Christian doctrine of the Holy Trinity.
