Meat Delicacy

Living together in a densely populated society, people have a tendency to express what they deem necessary to their survival. Naturally, as demand grows greater, the limited resources are exhausted.

“Meat Delicacy”, a painting by Ananyot Jannual, explores the conditions in society nowadays filled with greed, envy, and selfishness of its inhabitants.

As the main focus of the painting, the large pig is being consumed and devoured by a number of creatures, reflecting the resources people have to rely on. It not only represents food but also money, properties, and various types of valuables. 

Small absurd-looking creatures surrounding the pig symbolize humans living in the same society. 

Apart from using his imagination to paint each creature in different appearances, the artist also intends to show desires, greed, and temptation through movements and behaviors of those in the painting.

Through the use of acrylic colors and oil painting on a canvas, the artist managed to realistically capture small intricate details, combining realism and surrealism meticulously in the painting.
