Farmstrong project supported by UN-REDD

The Swiss foundation, Farmstrong, supported by UN-REDD, gave a community in West Africa a greenhouse. This allowed the community to grow vegetables they could sell. Farmstrong also helped organize a local women’s group and taught them how to manage their money.

Sustainable development

Farmstrong works with the landowners and communities so that they have alternative livelihoods and the skills to provide for themselves. This means that they have no need to turn to the forest to make money by illegal logging, charcoal production or poaching.
