Somerset House Studios: Tom Scutt

A designer for stage, ranging from theatre, opera and dance, to live music and television. Whilst the means of expression are varied, a common aim in his work is to allow a design to embody the spirit of a piece, functioning as both set for performance and as stand alone poetic installation. His work is at its most dynamic when bringing together different artforms across perceived high and low cultures to create something that exists outside of the expected.

MR. BURNS (2014-06-01/2014-06-01) by Tom ScuttSomerset House

Tom has recently developed independent projects which explore a process that sits outside of theatre norms, recognising the untapped potential of alternative approaches to mainstream theatre. Whilst in residence, his focus will be on collaborations that explore merging roles to evolve a theatre that can convey as much depth of meaning outside of the spoken word as within it.
