Made with Wild Vines
At the end of the Edo Period (1603-1867), these baskets were given to guests visiting Dake Onsen (hot springs) at the foot of Mt.Iwaki. “Akebi” is a wild vine found in abundance in the surrounding mountainous areas, and is used for charcoal baskets or handbags. After the Meiji Era (1867-1911), exhibits were held domestically and abroad, allowing the market to expand internationally.
Entirely Handmade
All the products are handmade, and much time is spent creating these intricate and elaborate designs. These crafts contain rustic overtones, incorporating various weaves and patterns, which encapsulates the warmth and peacefulness of nature.
