The school

One of the first services built by the Crespi family was the kindergarten and the elementary school for the children of the workers employed in the mill.

At the school the children received a primary education. When they came to the age, they chose to work at the mill or, if they had very good grades, they pursued an higher level of education to become techs and administratives.

Outside of school

For the children there were also leisure activities outside of the school, with the partnership of the church and the worker's after-work.

Summer camps

During the summer, when the school closed, the children were sent to summer camps, usually by the sea. There, they enjoyed a different setting and different activities, always under the watch of their teachers.

Teacher Maria's family tombIndustrial Village of Crespi d'Adda

A teacher, in particular, remained so loved by her students that they contributed to her funeral. And today, their descendents take care of her family grave, as a sign of perpetual gratitude to "Teacher Maria".
