Bracco digital Historical Archive

From 2022, for the 95th corporate anniversary, the Bracco Historical Archive has launched a major digital project to promote corporate values through a website, a strong social campaign, prestigious events, and participation in meetings such as Archivissima and Librixia.

The remarkable journey through time is divided into five sections: Family, Company, Innovation, Sustainability, and Culture. Internationalization, innovation, corporate responsibility, cultural patronage and care for the environment are in the DNA of the family and the Group. 

Given the great success and appreciation of the podcasts, we have also decided to provide ourselves with an entirely dedicated section on the Bracco Historical Archive website. In fact, the PODCAST section is born in which you can listen to all the #Braccostories, now collected in a fun playlist!

January 1998: the Historical Archive project began with the aim of selecting, retrieving, inventorying, preserving and promoting the documentation relevant to reconstructing the operations and history of the organization founded in Milan on June 1st, 1927 by Elio Bracco. The “Italian E. Merck Products Company – S.A.”, located in Piazzale Susa, marketed and sold products from the German pharmaceutical company E. Merck in Darmstadt, already established internationally.

Among the valuable gems preserved in the Bracco Historical Archive, some that stand out are: the articles of incorporation, the employee register books and personnel files starting from July 1st, 1927registration certificates for medicinal products in Italy and abroad starting from 1929, patentslaboratory notebooks and documentation on Bracco research (B books), portfolio and price lists, flyers, technical sheets and leaflets beginning from the 1930s.

At present, the archive holds over 10 thousand documents. In particular: correspondence, corporate documents, balance sheets, press releases, publications and material related to cultural events. In addition, there are 2 thousand papers concerning research and clinical experiments, laboratory analyses and scientific projects; technical drawings and blueprints of Bracco facilities; 2 thousand cards, brochures, and advertising catalogs, starting with those for Cebion, launched in Italy in 1934.

Bracco Historical Archive preservers: company brochures, material related to scientific and cultural initiatives by Bracco or in collaboration with other bodies starting from the 1970s, technical drawings and blueprints from Bracco facilities in the Lambrate area of Milan starting from the 1950s including the Via Fucini location. And also documents concerning relations with the Group’s subsidiaries and licensees, Bracco’s globalization process

The Bracco Historical Archive holds the archives of the CDI - Centro Diagnostico Italiano, and Diana de Silva  Cosmétiques. But not only that, it also preserves documents and photographs of Torviscosa, a company town built in the 1930s.

The Bracco Libraries

In addition to numerous documents, there are three libraries that hold Bracco’s cultural heritage: the Technical and Scientific one, the Salata Library and the "Diana Bracco" Company Library.

Bracco House Organ

Between 1962 and 2007, Bracco published three different corporate House Organ, richly illustrated and full of insights, always keeping people first: the "Notiziario Bracco", the "Bracco 3" and the "Bracco.com".

Bracco becomes a Historical Trademark of National Interest

In the Special Register of the Historical Marks of National Interest at the Italian Patent and Trademark Office, there is a new name: Bracco. Established in 2020 by the Ministry of Economic Development. The hexagonal logo was personally designed by Fulvio Bracco in the 1970s.
