In 1966, this note was issued, the first to bear the name of the Central Bank. While following the 1942 cruzeiro pattern, the change is noticeable in the band above the denomination and the rosette. Where "Tesouro Nacional" was written, it became "Banco Central," the new issuer of Brazilian currency.

10 years of the Central Bank

To celebrate the Central Bank's 10th anniversary, this silver coin was issued in 1975, worth 10 cruzeiros.

Although launched before construction began on the Central Bank Headquarters Building, the reverse of the coin already featured the institution's logo, inspired by the building's architectural design.

Moving to Brasília

The 1967 Constitution mandated the relocation of all federal agencies to Brasília, which was confirmed by a presidential decision in 1970. Before the construction of the Headquarters Building, the Central Bank operated in 12 different buildings in the federal capital.
