This work of art belongs to a series of other cuts, yet is distinguishable from others by Lucio Fontana from the same years for the declared purity of its structure.
The canvas is covered by a homogeneous white monochrome background with five cuts across made with a decisive and calibrated gesture.
From the openings you can see black gauze fixed to the back in order to shield the light.
The work masterfully manifests the fusion between conceptual absoluteness and the figure of the gesture. It is a different way of conceiving space, space which opens up behind the cuts where black gauze can be seen that is fixed to shield light and evokes a dimension of infinity.
