Solina String Ensemble Series 2 and Series 42

The Solina String Ensemble was introduced in 1974 to create polyphonic string sounds

The Dutch certainly are a courageous bunch. Coffee shops, passionate footballers, legalized euthanasia and … Solina String Ensembles!

Objectively, these are some of the worst String Ensembles that were ever available in stores. Don’t believe it? We can prove it … unfortunately!

The EBOARDMUSEUM even has a veritable collection of different Solina String Ensemble versions, and just by saying that we’re clearly also hurting our bottom line …

Still, no less objectively, these Solinas from the early seventies are also an indispensable part of pop history. And these three names should be enough for us to rebalance the books: Pink Floyd, Jean Michel Jarre, and Santana!

The problem with these incredibly elaborate-looking Solina String Ensembles is their monophonic envelope curve, which exhibits simply unnatural and almost unplayable behavior during longer crescendo phases. However, the sound, which can pleasantly be described as silky, is absolutely spot on—at least, as long as the integrated modulation is able to modulate it. If you turn it off, then, well … for the sake of our bottom line, we won’t say anything else.

The price per kilo of the Solina String Ensemble is pretty reasonable, in any case. Even if one of our eboards is significantly lighter for reasons not yet researched, the number on the bathroom scales is at least in a region familiar to even the slimmest of women.

And just to clarify: we love our Solinas, repair them as needed, and keep them alive. There’s no talk of euthanasia here!
