Collecting : From Palace to the People
The Prince and Princess Chumbhot's passion for collecting antiques formed the very beginning of the Suan Pakkad Palace Museum. Their dedication to preserving history and culture is reflected in the museum's rich holdings.
His love and appreciation in the value of art, culture and antiques led to the collection of antiques, art objects and various collectibles
Field Marshal H.R.H. Prince Paribatra Sukhumbhand of Nagor Svarga, the father, collected additional collectibles and were passed on to Prince Chumbot. It is the beginning of Suan Pakkad Palace large collection of antiques and artifacts.
Later, Prince Chumbhot began to bring the collected antiques for decorating the Thai houses. The house evolve into museum and opened to public in 1952 while still functions as home. This act is a first for its kind in Thailand.
