Ana Mendieta: Traces was the first UK retrospective of Mendieta’s provocative and radically inventive work. Spanning her entire career, the exhibition focused on the artist’s main body of work, the Siluetas series, made using her own body, together with elemental materials such as earth, water, blood and fire.

In addition to sculptures, films, photographs, drawings, personal writings and notebooks, the exhibition included an extensive research room with hundreds of photographic slides, which shed new light on the way that the artist worked, as well as the ways in which she documented her own practice.
