The Vale do Paraíba Anthropology Museum - MAV
It is a regional museum that aims to study and disseminate the ways of living, doing and knowing of the Valeparaíba man. In its trajectory, by identifying and promoting the recognition of regional culture, it formed an expressive collection telling the history of the region.

About the MAV project
The MAV project was linked to the avant-garde thinking of the New Museology, where the history of the collective and social groups had the same importance as the stories of national heroes and traditional families.

Daily life and Society
Made up of objects ranging from kitchen utensils to materials associated with crafts such as carpentry and weaving. This is a collection more linked to the anthropological typology of MAV, which seeks to understand the daily lives of those who inhabit the Vale do Paraíba.
School objects
They were objects belonging to the Cel School. Carlos Porto, and had been left in the building as a result of the school's move to the new headquarters.
The beginning of this collection takes place with the first donation of objects to the museum, originating from decree nº 17.487 of August 5, 1981, of the Government of the State of São Paulo. Throughout its history, the museum continues to receive diplomas, photographs, and other school objects, both from the Carlos Porto school and from other educational institutions in the municipality.

Popular art
Collection of sculptures about everyday life. Popular art seeks, with the simplicity of materiality, to dialogue about the themes of the daily life of the caipira, the intensity of their faith, the importance of their folklore and even their political and social positioning.
Maintained by the force of tradition, knowledge is passed from generation to generation, thus consolidating the identity of a people. They are pieces of clay, cooked or raw, of wood pigmented or not, that tell us a lot about the man from Vale-Paraíba.
In the collection there are works by the plastic artist, Geraldo Magela Borbagatto, Master of Brazilian Popular Culture, awarded by the Ministry of Culture in recognition of his contribution to the country's culture with his research on Paulistinhas and on the rescue of the way of making these sculptures of baked clay.

Archeology
The MAV archaeological collection currently has around 400,000 items, approximately 80% of which are represented by fragments of pieces.

Numismatics
Numismatics is made up of a variety of coins and paper money. It has coins from the Empire of Brazil and more recent ones such as Cruzeiro and Cruzado Novo. The collection continues to receive donations, the last one took place in 2019.

Medals
The collection of commemorative medals. Highlight for the medal commemorating the marriage between S.M.I. D. Pedro I and S.M.I D. Maria Leopoldina.
Armory
The main piece of this collection is the sword of the National Guard of D. Pedro II, donated to the MAV collection in 1986. Other objects such as grenades and officers' clothing from 1932 make up the collection.

The pieces range from academic painting to naive art. The collection features works by Adão Silvério, Almeida Junior, Cleuso de Paula and other important artists from Vale do Paraíba, in addition to winning works at the Jacareí Arts Salon - SAJA
