The photographic collection
From 1913 to 1929 the Catalana de Gas y Electricidad company brought to completion in the Pyrenees of Aragon Ribagorza one pharaonic project for the construction of several hydroelectric plants and 225km transmission line in order to meet growing electricity demand of the city of Barcelona. The line was one of the longer in Europe at the time, and working conditions tested buildings and especially the people who made them possible. All this represented a considerable technological and human challenge which has immortalized through the photographic collection of over 2,000 photos that Catalana de Gas y Electricidad did and now are preserved in the photographic archive of the Museu de la Ciència i de la Tècnica de Catalunya.
Seira Power Station
This center is the first to start work and also the first to produce electricity for Barcelona 1918. While initially two lines of 130,000 volts and four groups were projected finally be launched only one line and three groups. The second line would not be installed until 1929 when the central achieve its full capacity.

Villanova Dam
Between 1914 and 1918 was term Villanova Dam which the plant would feed Seira. The construction of the Villanova dam was a challenge and was characterized by harsh working conditions imposed by the air pressure drawer technique used to build its foundations.
