Pergamena leather comes from animals that have died naturally or been raised for food. The leathers are vegetable-tanned ad dyed with natural and biodegradable dyes or pigments whenever possible. Vegetable tanning takes advantage from the tannic acids found naturally in some plant species, such as barks, branches, leaves and even some fruits. The vegetable tanning is chromium and formaldehyde-free, which are some of the major problems in the leather industry.
