The notion of journey
This exhibition draws inspiration from a 2005 collection of Claudio Magris' writings, in which the notion of journeying branches out and expands beyond mere reality, fluctuating between the internal and external self, in a constant exercise of research and surpassing individual roots as a collective. The Galleria Nazionale's 20th-century collections showcase a selection of foreign-born artists who were based in Italy from the 1950s and 60s onward.

It is important to note, in this context, Rome's particular energy and internationalism in those years, characterized by the politics of important exhibitions and acquisitions.
