The Kalka-Shimla Railway

The uniqueness of the Kalka-Shimla Railway dates back to the time of the British Raj in India. Shimla was the 'summer capital' and the headquarters of the British army in 1864. The construction for this railway started in 1898. In 2007, the Himachal Pradesh  government declared the railway a heritage property and in 2008 UNESCO declared Kalka-Shimla Railway as a World Heritage Site, along with Darjeeling Himalayan and Nilgiri Mountain Railways. Take a look at the officers behind the smooth workings of the Kalka-Shimla Railway stations.
