ᨒᨙᨕ ᨄᨛᨈᨀᨙᨑᨙ Léang Pêttakéré

ᨒᨙᨕ ᨄᨛᨈᨀᨙᨑᨙ  in Bugis language reads Léang Pêttakéré. It is an archaeological and cultural heritage located in Leang-Leang Prehistoric Park, Maros-Pangkep Kaarst area. 

Leang-Leang Prehistoric Park was established in 1980 under the management of Balai Cagar Budaya Sulawesi Selatan. The park is home to several caves including the pre-historic river. It is believed that the area was a pre-historic establishment between 50,000 up to 6,000 BC.

Easy access to visit the cave

The site is located only 20 km from the Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport. The park is open to the public and one of the highlights for Makassar edu-tourism.

Step in the caves and explore the findings

The pre-historic establishment was confirmed through various findings such as food leftovers (i.e shellfish), tools made of rock, animal bones including handprints and Babirusa (deer-pigs).

Alongside anoa, deer-pig is a well-known animal from South Sulawesi. In this cave, there is an image of a pig surrounded by hand stencils.

Maros-Pangkep rock art is characterized by its inflated drawing images. By drawing them like a balloon, the hunters hoped to catch big-size pigs that could sufficiently feed the community
