Things almost never turn out the way you expect …

According to the blueprints of its inventor Ernst Zacharias, the Clavinet was meant to be an electronic imitation of the clavichord from the middle ages. It was meant to be used primarily for Baroque music.

But the Clavinet had an entirely different fate. Due to its unique sound, it quickly gained cult status with funk and rock musicians and became a worldwide success in timeless pop music.

Hayloft Find: A Mint-Condition Clavinet

Imagine for a moment that you found a VW Beetle brand new from the factory, with no miles on the clock, in a stable underneath a haystack.

Something similar happened to us with this Hohner Clavinet D6, whose existence had clearly just been forgotten about by a famous Austrian musician. It was rediscovered at the end of 2019 in factory-new condition. The accessories were still in their original unopened plastic packaging.

Now, would you like to know who this famous Austrian musician is?

Sorry, but we never kiss and tell … :-)
