Hohner Pianet M
This e-piano is part of the rather comprehensive, legendary Hohner Pianet series. Its working principle is simple and logical: sticky pads press onto tuned reeds which are raised and begin to vibrate when activating the keys. Individual pick-ups amplify this primarily weak signal and create the—thanks to a lot of hits—popular and somewhat soft sound of the Hohner Pianet.
But what does the M stand for in this Pianet M, manufactured from around 1977?
Modern design? In the ‘70s, certainly.
Moderately heavy? No way!
Mass-market? This instrument is a total rarity!
Integrated Modulator?
That’s the one!
Today, this modulator is more commonly referred to as the chorus. So that would make it a Pianet C, right? That actually exists, but on the other hand, it looks completely different.
So many things in this world are much too complicated … :-)
