Lois K. Alexander-Lane, fashion designer and founder of The Black Fashion Museum, was photographed in 1955 in this gorgeous evening ensemble.
She originally founded the Black Fashion Museum in Harlem in 1979, but the collection was donated to the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture after Alexander-Lane's death in 2007.
