Emergence is an International Festival of Street Art and Urban Actions and it takes place in Giardini Naxos, Italy, with the support of Giardini Naxos Municipality and the Region of Sicily.
The main objective of the festival is to consecrate a transversal artistic movement that, after two decades of curiosity and growing interest from critics, gallerists, collectors and publishers, finally gets the opportunity to define itself as a milestone in the current art scene.
Art goes to the street to communicate widely and indiscriminately, becoming necessary, precisely because it seeks the revaluation of the territories from urban and cultural decay. Street artists are contemporary heroes who, from the beginning of their creative career, pursue a noble ideal: urban redevelopment.
Alice Pasquini, known on the streets as Alice, decided soon to be untied from the academy to make the city a privileged scenario for the diffusion of her art, becoming one of the few women in the world to practice street art. In the course of her career, which began in early 2000, she made more than a thousand public works in dozens of countries. All the work of Alice through scenarios consisted of women and girls tells moments of real life, real emotions from hilarity to melancholy, without ever giving in to cliché.s Alice, decided soon to be untied from the academy to make the city a privileged scenario for the diffusion of her art, becoming one of the few women in the world to practice street art. True icon of the underground in the strict sense.
She works on large walls around the world, with a technique that replays punk comics, without frills. Her narrative style is never dirty or loaded, but simple and impressive. Its refinement comes out thanks to the definition created with the use of black and white interrupted by a single other strong color like fire red, acid green or blue.
Ericailcane surely is one of the most original and interesting exponents of Italian street scene: sweet, surreal, dreamy, and with a superb hand. For years he painted the walls of Bologna. The partnership with Blu gave the best results in 2003-2006. The two personalities have complemented each other in a unique harmony of composition. And if Blu was often left with the task of figuring humans, Ericailcane engages with his typical animal subjects.
The creative career of Lucamaleonte takes shape in the second half of the nineties. He never explored lettering in the strict sense, he preferred to exploit the space stolen from the city with images of figurative characters. Exasperation of the technique, this is the approach that moves the hand of the artist. He gives shape to a play between light and shadow, bringing forward with determination his formal research.
The works of Luca Ledda are characterized by a particular graphic signature, which gives strength and personality to the subjects represented. Ironic, surreal and provocative, his characters have a special visual impact, and ensure that the viewer does not ever remain indifferent to what he sees.
Pablo S. Herrero is a Spanish artist of a thousand collaborations, with a language that makes everybody take root. His work insinuates itself into every free space of the surface. His language departs by a stylized tree, traced back to a continuity between the apparatus and the roots, in which the stem is only a transitional element.
SEIKON's work revolves around graphic design and painting. Throughout the years his style has evolved and his interests focused on abstract art. He specializes in creating unique geometrical patterns which transform diverse surfaces with the use of color and design.
Currently the artist has a growing interest in art forms composed of light, sound and installation.
