There were also a number of artists in the 1990s who immersed themselves in the world of art. It was they who made possible the development of concept art in China. Globalization has brought about economic growth and scientific progress, both of which have shed light on artists' thought and provided them with a new background for creation.While mechanical reproduction.digital technology, and cyber society have unleashed artistic imagination and productivity, new problems have emerged one after another as well. With regards to painting, artists such as Ding Yi, Wang Xingwei, Zhou Tiehai, Wang Yin, Yan Lei, Chen Wenbo, and Xie Nanxing have forged a spontaneous trend of artistic studies on the understanding and development of painting. Their spiritual exploration of contemporariness and the experience they have accumulated so far have created a unique scene composed of individual efforts and respective achievements.

Wang Xingwei. He began to draw attention after his early work The Man Who Plays on the Game Console(wanyouxijideren) was published on an art journal. However, only after the Periodic Exam (jieduanceyan) exhibition, curated by Gu Zhenqing in 1994, did Wang's works begin to draw wide public attention.
Wang Yin. His early works Include the “Fiction Monthly" (xiaoshuoyuebao) series and the "Reading" (dushu) series while the "Soviet People" (sutianren) series and the Four Seasons (siji) series are among his laterworks.
Zhang Enli. In the 1990s, he created a number of expressionist works, depicting the survival and confrontation of human beings. His recent art works mainly feature his excellent combination of a composed structure and a Loose painting language.
Zhou Tiehai. In the 1990s,he created works that cast irony on the pathogenesis of contemporary Chinese art market. He also participated in many important international art exhibitions including the Venice Biennale and the Documenta in Kassel.
