As you travel up the mountain, you will become surrounded by clouds and mist, with zero visibility. You will feel a small drop in temperature as you enter the tea gardens near Runneymede.

Burliar bridge

The best way to experience the fun of the steam experience, along with the serenity and tranquility of the countryside, is to take the train on the uphill run. The train passes through an almost uninhabited tropical jungle via the Burliar bridge as it moves towards Coonoor.

Fern Hill station

The second last stop on the Nilgiri Mountain Railway is the little town of Fern Hill. You can take a look around this idyllic station, which adds to the charm of the unique railway. Each turn en route offers a panoramic view of the landscape.
