Darren Appiagyei

Meet the artists and wood turner of London who combines British craft with cultural heritage

London based woodturner Darren Appiagyei displayed his work in Dan Pearson's courtyard garden at the Garden Museum as part of London Craft Week 2021.

Hidden within the beautiful foliage of the garden visitors enjoyed a visual treasure hunt to uncover Darren's pieces.

Darren has a passion for discovering and exploring new woods. Through his practice he engages with the rawness and the texture of each unique piece of wood.

Darren is highly inspired by Ghanian wood carving and inspired by the different properties of both exotic  and native woods.

Darren also adds texture to vessels by burning and embellishing the surface.
