Ján Zoričák - Heaven Garden

Heaven Garden offers the viewer the opportunity to become part of the space adventure. Lifelong leitmotif of creator’s artwork is the universe as an infinite universum. The artist sharpens its objects into elementarysharply cut geometric shapes. Subsequently artworks are differently drilled, additionally dyed, what togetherwith the optical properties of glass creates a unique mirror effect.

Janko Alexy - Into the Field

Janko Alexy created the artwork Into the Field between the years 1933 and 1936 in fast irregular brush strokes. The background consists of hilly country in various shades of green and brown colours with small areas of white and blue. Alexy divided foreground of the painting into two separate parts – on the left part of a composition he situated trees without leaves. On the right side of the painting he showed off Slovak hills and at the bottom he placed two simplified figures of man and woman.

Anatoly Baratynsky - The Fire

Baratynsky used in his work The Fire shades of red, black, pink, and we also find accents of white and yellow colour. In the artwork The Snow are used shades of white, blue, gray-blue and green color. They are applied in thin layers, whilst creator used various techniques of work with brush - long regular strokes alternating with irregular, smooth transitions with aggressive, structural painting combined with elements of dripping. Spontaneity and expressivity of painted area are softened by horizontal and vertical lines, which intersect each other. Parts of these lines reveal fibreboard base and they highlight colourful action painting.

Gejza Barczi - The Illusionist

The focal point of the image Gejza Barczi's The Illusionist from 1984 is female figure dressed in leisure bright canvas. The creator’s highlight is on gestures of hands and finger movements, which are playing with balls in foreground. The face of the woman is in the penumbra and on head is indicated a large hat of green colour. The background behind the woman is simple with a large coloured areas, while above the figure of woman is situated complicated abstract composition in green tones supplemented with red, yellow, white and gray colour. Barczi in this artwork connected painting with drawn outlines.

Ladislav Čarný - Pitcher for Rembrandt

The Artwork Pitcher for Rembrandt from 1974 is part of the early period of work of Ladislav Čarný. This composition is dominated by several elements – diagonal brown table, white area of white hanging canvas partially covering the pitcher in pink-red shades, and levitating smiling portrait of Rembrandt, which resembles a Rembrandt’s self portrait from 1669. From the dark background stands out large letter R of brown colour.

Miloš Alexander Bazovský - View on Kriváň 

Artwork View of Kriváň Bazovský created in multiple layers of impasto paint. Bold and unrestrained atmosphere acts as a living medium of composition. The composition is divided horizontally into four sections - in the foreground are trees with green and yellow treetops painted in quick circular strokes, among them is indicated a brown wooden fence. In the middle of the composition the creator placed the hills - in the foreground in the centre is located the peak of dark green colour, which covers the foothills of Kriváň. Behind him is positioned mass of Kriváň in pale blue shade, which forms the upper part of the composition. Like several other works from this period of the artist's work, captured View of the Kriváň has a base of previous image, that disappeared by creation of this painting.

The central theme of this image is young girl dressed in ceremonial folk costume. The painter emphasizes the detailed elaboration of garments with folk elements. The picture is painted in subtle earthy tones with contrasting blue details. Dynamic of painting is delivered by gesture of hands, in which is a pearl necklace.

Juraj Collinásy - Cloun with a Guitar

The focal point of the work by Juraj Collinásy Clown with a Guitar from 1959 - 1962 is seated figure of the clown. Diagonal composition is complemented by clown’s stretched hands towards the guitar positioned in the lower right corner of the painting and clown's shade at the top left. Dark contour line is on the edges filled with the primary colours - yellow, blue and red, while on the clown’s outfit he used the pink and purple shades. Author didn't capture details of the environment around the clown figure; the guitar is only indicated in a few brush strokes, but through a fauvist work with colour he decomposed atmosphere of the moment.

Works from the series The Well combine the theme of energetic swirl – the well, which combines man with the universe, this world with the world of up and down, the heaven and the earth. The motive is a buttress of cosmic architecture. The image of Levitation is dominated by yellowish-white swirl beam of light and a blue bird that holds the head inside of it. The whole scene is situated on orange-red background.

On the drawing titled Hrnčiarska Street Louis Feld portrayed a view to Hrnčiarska Street from the place, where this street meets with the street Pri Miklušovej väznici. The composition is divided vertically into two parts - on the left is placed building of Mikluš prison with indicated street sign under which stands a male figure dressed in a suit. On the right side is overgrown arched underpass into Hrnčiarska Street through which the two female characters are passing. On the right edge we see the part of facade of the Calvinist church. The pen drawing is shaded with ink and charcoal.

Ján Brokoff - Confessions of the Queen

The plate with motive Confessions of the Queen shows Ján Nepomucký as confessor to Queen Žofia, the wife of King Václav IV. The scene is placed in the baroque architectural framework of the church. In the background we see the presbytery with the altar. Several figures are kneeling before it. On the right, into the background, stretch aisle of the church and confessional. In embrasures of confessional are two characters - the Queen is confessing to male figure whose face we can't see. The left side of the composition is dominated by the figure of a soldier in armour, who has in his left hand spear and his right hand is stroking a seated hunting dog.

Abstract composition of the painting presents on a light background in three colours (pink, black, white) overlapping shapes in the form of letter X, respectively other simple geometric shapes. Andrej Rudavský is one of the most important Slovak sculptors of the second half of the 20th century. In his work he is devoted to chamber and monumental sculptures, drawings, and paintings. His expressive and dynamic works, carried out mainly in metal, stone and wood, are characterized by their intellectual depth and returns to the tradition, culture and archetypes of ancient Slavic history. Rudavský draws inspiration from a spiritual basis of archaic, pagan and Christian layers of life of national community. The artist convincingly captures and artistically expresses the genius loci of the Slovak countryside. Work Chapel from 1968 - 1969 is created in bronze and it is the artist's expression of his relation to the Christian tradition.

Linocut from 1961 by Ľudovít Fulla shows a female figure during her the morning toilet. The dynamics of the movement is expressed by her hand gestures washing hair. Black and white linocut is lightly coloured by palette of colours, mainly in the upper part of the graphic. The central part of the picture is formed by geometrically depicted women’s figure and chair with the filled basin on it.

The painting with Christmas theme is painted with the large representation of red colour in 1987.  The image is divided horizontally into several plans. In the foreground are the characters that are proportionally comparatively as high as the buildings contained in their vicinity, which somewhat distorted the perspective of the image. In the middle of the image the artist has placed buildings and over them are captured figures in motion.
