You have always dreamed of a night in bed of a Bauhäusler? This is your chance!

Where?
This is the famous Prellerhaus. The studio building had Walter Gropius built next to the workshops of his famous avant-garde school: 28 studios for his best students and junior masters.

Working and living in the same place – that was not possible at any other university before.

Carpenter trainee (later junior master) Marcel Breuer lived here and pondered how many different types of chair you probably get bent from tubular steel ...

... meanwhile Joseph Albers (who drove his students into despair with folding exercises in the pre-course) was joking on his balkony ...

... and not only Marianne Brandt (who invented the ball lamp) listened amused ...

while she was trying to sit on the railing of one of those balconies: "How dizzy I got when others did!"

It is told that there was loving beyond measures and once at a party 14 people fitted on one of the small balconies! When Mies van der Rohe became director of the Bauhaus in 1930, he ended the "dissolute lifestyle" and swiftly converted the living studios in working studios.

What you’ll find?
There are 23 rooms waiting for you today. All rooms are modern in design: with tubular steel furniture, a large desk and sink. Showers are on every floor, a canteen is in the ground floor.

What to pay attention to?
A look at the former strict house rules does no harm, but you should not be scared off, as they were above all intended to appease the people of Dessau. The Bauhaus has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996 and is a listed building!

How to get there?
If you can’t find a horse, take the train to Dessau. From the station it’s only 5 minutes on foot. Think of your carbon footprint!

Maybe you are lucky, and you end up on the rooftop terrace. Here, once gymnastics was done or it was played with funny costumes.
