The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show

Professional adult actors and young performers take the stage to bring four of author Eric Carle’s iconic stories to life.

Actors create anticipation before introducing another puppet to young audiences.

Actors rehearse for four weeks at the Milwaukee Youth Arts Center, learning voice, movement, and puppetry to create an engaging experience for audiences ages 3 to 7 and their families.

Seventy-five magical puppets were used to create "The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show."

Two casts of young performers rotate performances with two professional adult actors to present these performances to family and school group audiences in an intimate environment.

The central character of the show – Caterpillar – is manipulated by our young performer.

The entire cast takes the stage for a rousing scene, inviting young audiences to participate in a call and response format.

While the actors had few lines for dialogue, their facial expressions, movement, and puppetry engages the audiences in the story.

The performance concludes with reactions of excitement from young audiences. Following the performance, the actors remain on stage for a brief talkback.
