Human-Elephant Conflict

Udalguri district was chosen as a pilot project because of its proximity to an Asian Elephant habitat corridor, stretching from Assam to Arunachal Pradesh and crossing over into Bhutan.

The Udalguri Landscape Mission was a collaborative effort, born from years of experience in conservation. The project recognized the crucial role of community self-organization in tackling large-scale afforestation challenges.

In 2018, after the successful pilot habitat restoration project in Udalguri, Assam, the Balipara Reserve Forest Project was initiated in Sonitpur district, Assam.
