The Coronation Chamber
This room was initially a chapel, but became the Guard Room in 1682. Every morning, the bodyguards would gather here before taking up their posts. The courtiers called it the “store” as it was usually cluttered with the sedan chairs of the ladies of the Court.

On the morning of 6 October 1789, rioters broke into this room to get to the Queen's Apartment, marking the start of the French Revolution. In 1833, Louis Philippe decided to dedicate the room to Napoleon I.
