Womb Haven

The constant joy in contemplating the growth of a baby is depicted here, through a foetus with its umbilical cord and curled up position in the womb.

Back in the 1970s, radiography was not so developed and commonly accessible in India. The artist in his imagination shows a foetus growing into a baby with the head, eye, body (in pink), legs and the spine.

The mother-to-be, in a colourful attire, looks at her baby bump, to have a joyful banter with her child.

In the 1970s, 'water birth' was trending in the western world. Options of warm and cold water were being experimented. The artist being a journalist, was fully aware of this trend, and used the contours of this stone to show that. 

The most popular and appealing representation of a mother and child, is discovered on this stone. The magic of his brush inks a portrait of love and eternity.

Siddhesh saw life in stones, and made a tribute in painting to stones. He felt that these stones also have expression so he painted 'a rock hugging its baby rock'.
