Hang a Monet in Your Home!
Art Projector lets you virtually display the world’s best art, in real size, inside your own home. Make sure you've downloaded the Google Arts & Culture app. Jump into the app and tap the camera icon.
Make sure to allow the app access to your phone’s camera, then select ‘Art Projector’ from the available options to get curating. First, point your camera at the ground and move it round to place the artwork on a stand. Try picking a patterned, well-lit surface.
Tap or drag your chosen artwork and it’ll appear full size in the room, turning your house into a rival for the Met or the Louvre! Scroll along to find Monet’s Water Lilies.
The painting you’ve projected has the real physical dimensions and qualities of the original, so you can walk around and even get up close by approaching the painting or moving your phone towards it.
Looking here in detail, you can see the dabs and short brushstrokes characteristic of the Impressionists. In his later years, Monet allowed these strokes to become lazier, slightly more elongated and luxurious, to even further suggest a world of changing light rather than solid objects. See how the lilies and the ripples blend into one another.
Get creative around the house and display your Monet masterpiece anywhere. Press the camera button to take a snap once you're happy with the hang.
You are all set!
Your first Culture Weekly will arrive this week.
