MAC Lima, Agatha Ruiz de la Prada
Agatha Ruiz de la Prada is a renowned Spanish designer and bussinesswoman. In 1981, she opened her first shop where she exhibited "Painted Clothing". From the beginning, her work has been innovative and distinguished by her unmistakable mark.
Agatha Ruiz de la Prada is able to cross and transcend borders and boundaries of fashion until she reaches art in its deepest meaning. Thus, her clothes are unique pieces, artworks.
Czech art historian Max Dvorak said that art is style. We can clearly see that Agatha Ruiz de la Prada fulfils that requirement because her style is unique through time. She has been able to create her own identity, a characteristic, recognizable and unmistakable style.
An exhibition of the artist's dresses is no surprise since her creations can go from a catwalk to a museum without any difficulty. The MAC Lima had the amazing opportunity to exhibit fifty-five dresses.
The exposition couldn't miss the symbol that makes the artist recognizable: the heart. It is not a simple and common one. Agatha's heart has its own personality, because it is in motion.

Agatha draws the heart in a way that is not a static figure. The result is a heart of our time, maverick and dynamic.

Color is one of Agatha Ruiz de la Prada's keys. Her color palette covers all colors that we can imagine, except for black. The color is an instrument used with an intention, a purpose. She said that color makes you feel more positive, optimistic.
Her creations bring us closer to a world flooded with shapes and colors that we know very well, but she takes them out of context and usual routine. The colors are picked randomly and to adventure.

That freshness and imagination remain intact in the mind of the designer, who knows that metamorphosis is possible and that fashion can help us become elements than we have never imagined. Feeling as we were in a cloud helps us see the world from another perspective; these are the feelings Agatha Ruiz de la Prada gives us.
Sources from where she inspires herself are numerous, although undoubtedly the main one is nature: flowers, trees, clouds, stars, the colors of the rainbow. But also she investigates in geometric shapes and makes it possible for lines to be in three dimensions.
In this game of shapes, the space is affected, she modifies it like in the fabulous Rings dress.

It can be said that Agatha Ruiz de la Prada is capable of transforming the world around her, agathizing it.
With this invented term we can refer to a reality that is lively, cheerful, modern, dynamic, optimistic and dreamy.
Another key that makes Agatha's style recognizable is her domain of materials. She shows us that, in addition to velvet, cotton or thread, there are more options.
That is how in her shows, plastic or wires flood the catwalks, showing us that every element is capable of being transformed.
