The prohibition Islamic religious art had no description of God because they didn't want God descript as a person. So, The Koran avoided that by shifting the pronouns to get an exact image of God.

Islamic art used the Koran itself of God's words for decoration and religious significance. No images were meant for religious purpose of worshipping, because they did not had God or Saints in them.

This would be allowed in non-religious Islamic art, than in religious Islamic art because not a single person would be worship, but only God and Saints. Muhammed was never worship, only in prayers.
