Still life art is often referred to as capturing the art of an object that does not move on its own. If you will notice in the image labeled Still Life with Apples by Suleyman Seyyid Bey it appears as if someone placed the apples on the table took a picture and then drew the image. The apples in this drawing are being still and will not move unless a human moves them hence being titled a still life portrait.
