Ancient rome, Scattered around but i chose this theme because i think rome is cool and beautiful the way it was put together. Hope you enjoy :)
I chose this painting because i feel like a lot of ancient rome, or rome itself has to do with art. So what better to describe it than the inside of what looks to be like a collection of art
Ancient Rome; Agrippina Landing with the Ashes of Germanicus, Joseph Mallord William Turner, 1839, From the collection of: Tate Britain
I liked this art work cause of the way it kinda shadows rome in the background
I added this painting of "The Tower of Babel" because i feel like a lot to do with rome is the buildings along with its art works
Romans during the Decadence, Thomas Couture, 1847, From the collection of: Musée d’Orsay, Paris
Although i do not know about the "decadence" i just added this cause i thought it was cool, because of everyone in the middle and then the statues surrounding them
This painting just makes me feel like rome as always packed and crazy with people piling in the streets
An Architectural Capriccio of the Roman Forum with Philosophers and Soldiers among Ancient Ruins, including the Arch of Janus Quadrifrons, the Sarcophagus of Santa Constanza, the Farnese Hercules and the Cincinnatus, Giovanni Paolo Panini, c. 1745-50, From the collection of: The National Museum of Western Art, Tokyo
no clue what this is all about but i liked it cause of the huge statue towering over those people
i didn't know rome had nazis.... lol. i just like this cause it looks like an accident waiting to happen
Imaginary View of Rome with Equestrian Statue of Marcus Aurelius, the Column of Trajan and a Temple, Hubert Robert, 1786, From the collection of: The National Museum of Western Art, Tokyo
Again, the buildings in rome i think are what makes rome. When you see these types of buildings you think "rome"
Baalbec - Ruins of the Temple of Bacchus, David Roberts, 1840, From the collection of: Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool
although falling apart, still a beautiful feature of rome
Capriccio - interior of the Colosseum, Rome, attributed to Pietro F. GAROLI, c.1690, From the collection of: Art Gallery of South Australia
added this one purely for the beauty, i love all the stone buildings
Coliseum and the Lateran Obelisque, Hubert Robert, ca. 1785, From the collection of: The Museum at Dumbarton Oaks
I love the colosseum so i added this, even though its basically gone here its still beautiful and a lot of ancient rome has to do with the colosseum
The Colosseum, John Inigo Richards RA, 1730/31?–1810, British, 1776, From the collection of: Yale Center for British Art
another colosseum, the beauty of this ancient building is just unreal
Modern Rome-Campo Vaccino, Joseph Mallord William Turner, 1839, From the collection of: The J. Paul Getty Museum
an overview of ancient rome, along with some stragglers and a random animal
The Conquest of Jerusalem by Emperor Titus, Nicolas Poussin, 1638, From the collection of: Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien
again i jus think rome was always jam packed with people and crazy, this might be a little much but hey if we are going to have a fight/war here might as well do it in the streets of rome
The Banquet of Cleopatra, Giambattista Tiepolo, (1743-1744), From the collection of: National Gallery of Victoria
i added this one because of how rome always seems crazy, but here for this painting it was calm. they probably fought till the death after lol
