Harry C. Lee & Co. Monogram slotted wood racquet. 17 main strings and 21 cross strings. Wood frame with gut strings. 4.5inch 'slot' goes all the way through the shaft. The slot design was apparently patented in 1908 by Thompson (Philadelphia) and Mitchell (Camden, NJ across the river) and was designed to increase elasticity and resistance to torsional strains. Harry C Lee must have paid royalties for the use of the design.
