This is one of Raja Ravi Varma's last works. It is an unfinished painting. This shows the Prince of Wales and the Maharaja of Mysore, Krishnaraja Wadiyar IV during a Khedda Operation. A Khedda Operation is often mistaken for a 'hunting expedition' which it is not. It was extensive operation to herd elephants which roam the forests into an enclosure for domestication- usually for temple and royal processions. In this painting by Raja Ravi Varma, the elephants can be seen inside an enclosure built for the purpose.
