This house was occupied by James Mason who was a US Senator from Virginia. He was appointed commissioner of the Confederacy to the United Kingdom and France during the Civil War. Mason first rented the house at 115 Wellington in the summer of 1867, and then from 1868 to 1869 he rented this house.
